Councillor Vacancy

WANT TO BE A PARISH COUNCILLOR?

If you are passionate about your local community, we need you.  Councillors make a huge difference to the quality of life of local people and how local issues are dealt with.  We need people from all backgrounds and experiences who reflect the communities they serve to put themselves forward.

We have a Vacancy on Algarkirk Parish Council

Are you interested in becoming a Councillor?

We are inviting applications from local people to join Algarkirk Parish Council.

In terms of eligibility, you must be a Commonwealth citizen (including a British subject), over 18 years old and registered to vote in the area.  In addition, during the previous 12 months before the date of nomination you must have been a resident in the Parish or within three miles of it, occupy as owner or tenant any land or premises therein or had principal or only place of work therein.  This does not have to be paid work but must be substantial.

Responsibilities of the Parish Council

The Parish Council is responsible for the running of the village, maintaining the play equipment and grass cutting in the playing field to name a few.  It also determines how much money to raise through the Council precept to deliver these services to the residents of the Parish.

What Kind of Person do we need?

You should have an active interest in the local issues and things that affect local people and a willingness to represent the views of the community.  You should be able to commit the time and effort to the role and attend as many bimonthly meetings as possible.
